How it works

Using this tool

  • Choose live channel, VOD, clip, collection or chat. Paste the matching HTTPS Twitch URL or identifier.

  • List every hostname that will host or embed the page. Use example.com and www.example.com as separate parents if both are used, without schemes, paths, ports or wildcards.

  • Set dimensions and supported options. Autoplay and mute apply to video players; a start time applies only to a VOD. Chat uses its own documented endpoint.

  • Copy the generated code into your HTTPS page. Responsive output includes a Twitch link fallback when the container is too narrow for a supported player.

Method

The generator accepts only supported Twitch URL shapes and identifier characters. It builds HTTPS iframe URLs with URLSearchParams, repeats parent for each validated hostname and escapes HTML attributes. Channel, VOD and collection use player.twitch.tv; clips use clips.twitch.tv/embed; chat uses the channel-specific Twitch chat endpoint. No user input becomes executable JavaScript.

Example

Choose Live channel, enter twitchdev and set parents to example.com,www.example.com. A responsive 854 × 480 player starts muted with autoplay off. Its URL includes both parent parameters. The fallback opens the same channel on Twitch when the container is under 400 pixels wide.

Assumptions & limitations

  • Twitch requires HTTPS and accurate parent hostnames. The site page and any outer embed hosts must be accounted for. localhost is accepted for local work, but production hosts need SSL.
  • Video and clip players require at least 400 × 300 pixels. The generated responsive container keeps the configured height and switches to a link below the minimum width. Do not hide, crop or cover Twitch controls.
  • The preview is a local layout check with no third-party network request. Playback must be checked on your actual HTTPS parent domain; availability, browser autoplay policy and Twitch restrictions still apply.
  • Collections are supported by Twitch's video player. Clips have no interactive JavaScript player API. This tool emits iframe HTML rather than claiming those products share an identical API.

Common questions

Why does an embed show a parent error?

The actual page hostname must appear as a parent parameter. Include both apex and www hosts if relevant, and any outer host when the page itself is embedded. A protocol, path or port is not a parent hostname.

Will autoplay work on every phone?

No. Browser policies and user interaction requirements can block autoplay, especially on mobile. Muting helps in some contexts but cannot guarantee playback. Autoplay is off by default here.

Can I preview real Twitch playback in this tool?

The built-in preview checks the generated layout without loading Twitch. Copy the code to your configured HTTPS host to check real playback. This avoids a misleading parent-domain error and unsolicited third-party requests.
